- L1: Ethereum mainnet
- L2: Aztec, the privacy-preserving rollup settling on Ethereum
- Proof of Personhood: Proving a real, unique, non-sanctioned human is behind a transfer without revealing identity; satisfied by Proof of Clean Hands (PoCH) or a Human Passport score of 20+
- Proof of Clean Hands (PoCH): Identity verification flow issuing an on-chain Clean Hands SBT after government ID check, liveness scan, and sanctions screening
- SBT (Soulbound Token): Non-transferable on-chain credential bound to a specific wallet
- Clean token: Token (cUSDC, cDAI, etc.) entering Aztec’s private layer through Shield, indicating an identity-screened holder
- Attestation: Signed message from bridge attester confirming user passed identity verification and sanctions screening for a specific deposit or exit
- Proof of Innocence (PoI): Per-deposit sanctions screening of the depositing address via sanctions.io, run at attestation issuance on both entry and exit
- Nonce: Single-use identifier on attestations preventing captured attestation replay
- Cross-chain message: Message passed between L1 (Ethereum) and L2 (Aztec) coordinating deposits and withdrawals
